Reading Club

Reading is a complex process that involves:

• accurately decoding words

• fluency or smooth vocalisation

• comprehending what the words mean

Reading Club teaches students critical thinking comprehension strategies to develop a deeper level of understanding of a book. When all comprehension strategies are known a student will be able to think their way through a text and automatically apply the right strategies at the right time. 

Each Book Club will have no more than six students of a similar age/level of reading. A small Book Club fosters enjoyment of reading and facilitates the sharing of ideas and opinions.
